Drive Axles Repair Service

Most of us think of an axle as a bar between two wheels, or a straight axle, like you find on a train car or a little red wagon. The truth is, most axles are far more complex. That’s why it’s important to know an axle expert, like the Automotive Services Guys, who can keep your car’s axles worry free.

Today, most axles are split axles, which means the wheel on each side is attached to a separate shaft. This allows independent suspension of the left and right wheels, and therefore a smoother ride. It also permits the left and right wheels to rotate at different speeds as the automobile turns, improving traction and extending tire life. This is what’s known as the differential.<

Your vehicle's axle connects two wheels together in front and in back. This load-bearing component acts like a central shaft, maintaining the wheel positions relative to each other and to the vehicle body. The axle construction matches vehicle use; trucks and off-road vehicles come with axles that keep the wheel positions steady under heavy stress (ideal for supporting heavy loads), while conventional axles satisfy general consumer needs. No matter what you drive, remember that your vehicle's axle must bear the weight of your vehicle (plus any cargo) along with the acceleration forces between you and the ground. When it comes to axle inspection, we are your source for professional, knowledgeable service. Bring your car to us and rest assured that the equipment that carries you and your family is safe and secure.

What Axle Repair Involves?

You will probably need the entire axle replaced, as simply patching up a crack or break is often considered too risky. There is simply too great a danger posed by a faulty axle, and your mechanic will likely suggest you replace the axle entirely.

There are lots of reasons why your axle may not be working properly, and the most common one is that grease is leaking because the boots are torn. These are grease containers that help to lubricate the axle, and once they go, you won’t be able to get far. Other issues may be caused by a broken or cracked shaft or by CV joints that are out of whack.
